| Description |
| Dan Crawford (1870-1926) was born in Greenock, the son of a Clyde boat captain. He was influenced to go to Africa by meeting Frederick Arnot and arrived there in 1890. Dan had a real heart for the African people and was able to persuade many chiefs to give up their slaves. He was to spend 22 years in Africa, without a break, spreading the gospel. He became known as "Konga Vantu" meaning "the gatherer of the people". Dan studied African languages and endeavoured to understand African customs and traditions. Thinking Black traces his varies experiences in those early pioneering days. |
